Hanbang seasoning
Meat seasoning
This story is a translation of my personal opinion as a Korean for non-Korean speakers.
Please let me know if anything is uncomfortable for you as this is my personal story,
and please direct any comments or concerns to me as an individual,
not to Korea as a whole.

Hello, T-it (Tistory neighbors)!
Today, let's talk about the secret of
a herbal seasoning that removes meat odor.
But wait a minute!
I remember when I was an elementary school student,
I accidentally took the wrong herbal medicine
and gained a lot of weight.
Thinking about it now still makes me angry!
Anyway, we've learned about
the herbal seasoning today.

"Traditional Korean herbal medicine ingredients,
or Hanbangjae (한약재), are commonly used as
the main ingredients for prescriptions
in Korean medicine.
Additionally,
many fragrant ingredients such as herbs and
spices are also included in Hanbangjae.
While modern Western medicine has advanced greatly,
many people still seek treatment from traditional Korean
medicine when they experience conditions
that are difficult to explain scientifically or
to treat with Western medicine.
In cases where conventional medicine is not effective,
or for those seeking more holistic treatment options,
many turn to Korean medicine clinics for help."
Most herbal medicines have been scientifically
proven to be effective,
and many natural ingredients
in Western medicine are also extracted
from herbal medicines.
Therefore,
I personally believe that traditional Korean
medicine is very important.
However,
no matter how good the herbal medicine is,
it is just a weed or wild plant to the general public.
There are many cases where people secretly
gather valuable herbs in the mountains and
consume them at home,
which can lead to serious health problems.
Therefore,
if it is not a traditional Korean medicine
ingredient sold in stores,
I strongly recommend that you use it
through a traditional Korean medicine clinic.
Traditional Korean medicine ingredients can be
broadly divided into two types:
plant-based ingredients and animal-based ingredients.
Although there are also mineral-based
ingredients such as rocks,
we will skip over them as today's topic is about using
herbal ingredients as seasoning for meat.
Many of the vegetables and herbs used
as wraps for meat also fall into the category
of plant-based ingredients.
Typically

There are many types of animal-based medicinal herbs,
and some are even consumed as food ingredients
without being recognized as medicinal herbs.
Typically
[Animal-based Herbal Ingredients✨]
Oyster: Rich in zinc and various minerals, it is especially beneficial for men.
Honey: Helps boost immunity, relieve indigestion, and improve skin health.
Gizzard of chicken: Rich in protein and vitamins, it helps prevent anemia.
Mushrooms: Each type of mushroom has its own unique benefits and medicinal properties.
Of course, some animal-based medicinal herbs
such as centipedes, snakes, and bear bile are
unlikely to be used directly in our daily lives.
In particular,
regarding mushrooms, there's a saying that goes,
'You can eat all mushrooms,
but you can only eat poisonous ones once in your life.'
So, we urge you to only consume edible mushrooms
that are sold in the market. 🙏
Now, let's get to the main point.
Koreans are a people who really love meat,
which has led to the development of a variety of meat
dishes compared to other countries.
The representative seasoning base is soy sauce,
and the best places are those that subtly blend soy sauce
with traditional herbal seasoning to completely
eliminate the meat's gamey odor.
However,
there are not many places that specialize in this,
and many places use concentrated herbal extracts that
have a strong medicinal scent,
resulting in only the places that put in the effort suffering.
Of course,
for those who visit our blog,
you are probably aware of the Korean labeling
requirements for food products.
We hope our neighbors will avoid purchasing products that
contain concentrated herbal extracts.
[Ingredients for Hanbang Soy Sauce Marinade✨]

Licorice: neutralizes the bitterness and adds a subtle sweetness.
Milk vetch root: adds a fresh, herb-like sensation.
Cinnamon: creates a subtle spiciness and sweetness.
Jujube: creates a rich traditional medicine color and adds a subtle sweetness.
Ginger: adds a gentle spiciness and removes the gamy smell of meat.
After adding a small amount (less than 10g)
of the prepared herbs, onion, scallion, and a large
amount of sugar into soy sauce and boiling,
cool the mixture and marinate the prepared meat for a day.
[Ingredients for Hanbang Soy Sauce Marinade2✨]
ssanghwatang(雙和湯): For really lazy bachelors, prepare half a bottle of Samgyetang broth.
In the prepared soy sauce,
add half a bottle of ssanghwatang broth and a lot of sugar,
then boil and cool it down before
marinating the meat for a day.
With the Korean traditional sauce,
your housewarming party or family meal is complete!
If you're still too lazy,
it might be better to order from a specialty restaurant
that makes Korean soy sauce marinated meat."
My wife and I are both working,
and it's been really tough for us.
So, tonight,
we're going to take it easy and just buy
some pre-made meat with
Korean herbal seasoning from "MeatMadam"...
That's all about Korean herbal seasoning.
